TO SHOWCASE 32 MUSICAL EVENTS
FEATURING ARTISTS FROM FIVE CONTINENTS

(Sonoma County, CA, August 28, 2014) – Weill Hall at Sonoma State University’s Green Music Center (GMC) will celebrate the 2014-15 season with a gala on Sunday, September 28, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. featuring a performance by entertainer Michael Feinstein in a salute to Frank Sinatra. The concert celebrates the start of the 2014-15 MasterCard Performance Series, and the first season programmed by recently appointed Co-Executive Director Zarin Mehta.

 

Michael Feinstein is a multi-platinum-selling, two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy Award-nominated entertainer. Dubbed “The Ambassador of the Great American Songbook,” he is considered one of the premier interpreters of American standards. His 200-plus shows a year have included performances at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and the Hollywood Bowl as well as the White House and Buckingham Palace. Feinstein has received national recognition for his commitment to celebrating America’s popular song and preserving its legacy for the next generation.

 

The 2014-15 season opens Friday, September 19, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. with the bluegrass-meets-classical duo of mandolinist/composer Chris Thile and bassist/ composer Edgar Meyer.

 

The lineup continues on Saturday, September 20 at 7:30 p.m. with three-time Grammy Award winner Ramsey Lewis and rising jazz vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant, performing in respective sets.
